An old Two Ronnie's sketch confuses Four Candles with Fork Handles. Which, as you can see, doesn't work for the digging implement.
So this is an inversion of a verbal joke - perhaps stretching it a bit?
I'll just watch those points roll in :-)
(or not)

Sorry, it's a pen. Doesn't do it for me.

Good choice but where's the detail?

Great effect. But where did the detail go?

Good idea, but I know you can do better than this. It's a bit tame IMHO.

Good subject but not keen on the lighting.

Nice to see a hand made nutter. Great shot but you could get more out of this imho.

Clever. A bit dark and not interesting enough for me.

This is fantastic. Excellent subject. This is the only flower shot I'd get out of bed for.

Phew! A bit of humour amongst all the flower shots. Well done.

Nice pattern and image - but is it a macro?

There was a bear and a lion fighting there earlier - but it didn't seem all that serene so chose this one...

ysal - the photo wasn't of the monument - but more of the peacefulness around it.
aoc - yes - wasn't too bothered about the inscription/monument, but more of the looming volume. I wanted the sky more, but had no time for pp. Almost every town in the UK has a monument like this - but this one was only raised a couple of years ago. The title was a comment on the fact that chamberlain's peace was eventually realised. But at the cost of war. I long had a t-shirt with neville getting off the plane with a bottle of ale in his hand. Abbot Ale of course.

Yes - I originally entered it without mosaic or saturation - but it was very boring and the blur/focus was really problematic. So retained the composition and tried to salvage it.

Agreed on flash and dof. I'll try and be a bit less last minute. 😑

Yes. The wheels disappear if you use no imagination.
Not sure what the concern is about using other people's work. I certainly didn't make the skates not the camera nor the systems to display the images.
Everyone is using something created by god's fey hand or an agent thereof.

Nice shot - it it really a wheel? Looks like a transverse rotary joint (or something). Gets my vote.

      Thanks for the vote/comments.

This was a last-minute rush job. I couldn't find any better cakes. Although now I understand I should have used "brioche".

It alludes to the words attributed to Marie-Antoinnete when she found out that the common Parisians were starving due to there being no bread.

She suggested they eat cake.

It was used as an example of how the sophisticates of the sun-king simply had no understanding of the day-to-day reality of the people.

And it's suggested this attitude was one of the triggers for The Terrors in France.

The sign "Rien de pain" is meant to mean that there's absolutely no bread in the shop.

There.

Thanks for the comments - the lighting was a struggle. And the flash made everything else visceral so had to find a halfway. And yes - I put some super-sharpening in an attempt to give the food the impression of doggy hyperreality.

Peacocks - I get it - but should be pin sharp imho. Great choice of shot, where you might have been able to go for the standard tail feathers...

Gets my vote - my great grandmother was known for wearing something similar simply to put something in the postbox. Nice muted colours. Are the glasses for opera, races, or something else...

Doesn't do it for me on the sophisticaiton level. A nice thought and a nice broach. I wonder how many people know what it's all about anymore.
