Panachallenge Panachallenge #234 Dutch Angle is underway.
"Dutch Angle is a non-traditional technique used in photography to create or convey dramatic effects. Dutch angle is accomplished by simply tilting the camera so the horizon is at an angle to the bottom of the frame of the shot. This challenge is about creatively using Dutch angle or tilt with intention to give your image greater impact than it might otherwise have. I would encourage everyone to read the excellent article: How To Shoot Dutch Angle Photography. https://expertphotography.com/dutch-angle/
Also : https://findawaybyjwp.com/2015/03/12/photo-and-notes-tilted-horizon-and-45-degrees-for-dutch-angle/
In the extra info, please share your creative intention in using a Dutch Angle for your entry. As always, the goal is to make a compelling, well-composed image. "

Entry period: Thu 6 Aug through Thu 27 Aug 23:59:59 UTC
Voting: Fri 28 Aug through Mon 31 Aug 23:59:59 UTC

You may submit entries taken with a Panasonic Lumix (and their Leica cousins) digital camera to the main category, and/or you may submit entries taken with any digital camera to the open category. The theme applies to both categories.

Your photo for either category must be taken during the entry period, starting Thu 6 Aug.

For more info, go to http://www.panachallenge.com/challenge?challenge=281&f=f
Rules: http://www.panachallenge.com/challenge/rules.php?f=f

Good luck!

Another link on Dutch Angle with a few examples and some thoughts on using it with intention.

It works fine for me but then I've got an ad-blocker on our computer. It's called 'AdBlocker Ultimate'. It's free and works superbly :-)

I'll add both links.

Neil.

What a good idea for a challenge.
I must admit that I usually dislike photos that are not straight. I can't understand why anyone would take an otherwise good photo and then not straighten the horizon.
Obviously, this challenge is different and interesting - tilting the view to get a better-looking shot.
I was up early this morning and was happy to get several shots that I believe are better for being tilted.
Not something I would normally do - that's what I like about this challenge. Expanding my horizons.

What an interesting challenge theme. I never realized this was an actual named technique (Dutch Angle). I guess I entered one 12 years ago in Challenge #45 Passageways.

Maike13: I remember that one - it certainly shows a good use for the technique. I presume someone helped you up since you are still here

Maike13 - i like your example - it has a suitably disquiet feel... you shouldn't have said anything and gone back and taken it again!
