Good job you didn't put the Vaseline on the lens cap like Anita. LOL Of course she still got a 3rd place even then - mystical skills I guess :-)

Congrats on your high finish and daring to shoot differently!

Thanks for all your comments. Vasaline on a glass cover over the lens gives the soft effect. It was a tip I came across when researching impressionist photography.

Well done! What a wonderful effect you've achieved. Did it come at the cost of an eyebrow?

    Nicely done!

I love the canvas feel that this image nicely captures. It is very well done.

    Very good McCubbin

I like the brightness of this one. May I ask why you felt you needed to sharpen here (considering were looking for impressionism) ? In my favs.

I really like the effect you have created. Even with the dappled light there is an eerie feeling to this photo.

Dark and oppressive in mood. I yearn for some specific point of interest in the forest such as a human figure or a colorful counterpoint.

not seen his work [Mccubbin]but this appeals to me

Not sure how you got this effect with a fast shutter speed, you'll have to fill us in on how you achieved it. Maybe you panned down. Anyway loving the light in this, and it fits the challenge well. In my faves.

Do your best impression of the impressionistic art style. This fits the topic but also looks a little more like blurred image than art style simply because it is missing

The appearance of quickly painted surfaces.
The appearance of short brushstrokes.
Separating colors and letting the eye's perception mix them.

As a photo, I like the "effect" even though I think it is lacking in a central subject and point of focus.

Beautiful composition, color and mood! Not familiar with McCubbin's work but if it's like your photo, it should be good.

There's potential here for a powerful, dark, wonderfully moody image; however, in my opinion a little more "blur" to smear the background would have helped this image to look more impressionistic.

Very similar to his work from the little I know. I think it would be better if the perspective had been corrected so that the trees on both sides did not lean outwards. Love the full light on the trunks and the detail in the bush behind exactly the way McCubbin liked to do it. Well done.
