I thought this more true to impressionist art than many so I am surprised it didn't rank higher. Pointilist is, I suppose, the term for this style of painting and to that end, this is correct to the classical impressionist art form. I think maybe if the points of colour were larger (just take this image and do a 100% crop maybe) you might have done better. I do not, however, think it would have been fair of me to mark down the image for your use of PP since the Challenge was amended to permit same without penalty.

Hmmm a good try. You got the shutter speed right, but the image itself is very unispiring, I don't want to be harsh, it's just that it looks very noisy to me, and the colours are very unbecoming.
Thanks for entering though :)

I think the boat should be sailing into the picture rather than out of it. I like your treatment of the sea a lot.

I like the grainy look. The placement of the sailboat adds a lot of visual tension though some might think it odd. Among my favs.

yep a fine example of his style
reminds me of the picture on the times front page of Francis Chichester triumphal return after the first single round the world trip going the wrong way

My second favorite. I tried, unsuccessfully, to achieve a good pointillistic image, but, could not. You've come closer than I did. I think if you had filtered out a bit of the chroma noise and pushed up the iso to increase the lum noise (and maybe played with grain if you had the option), you would have made Seurat smile...

Really like this - a photo that has instant appeal. I like the little, simple, clean, innocent, toy-like yatch on the deep, dark, even menacing, rolling ocean.

Do your best impression of the impressionistic art style. This fits the topic well especially because it has,
The appearance of quickly painted surfaces.
The appearance of short brushstrokes.
If anything is a little lacking it is,
Separating colors and letting the eye's perception mix them.
