A first first. Congratulations. I hope you don't mind but I am planning to steal this idea for a photo club comp coming up in 2010.

I have it in my favourites and is a lovely shot. I think the shallow DOF is is positive along the right flank but negative as we look up. Would have loved to see the same shot with say f5.6 or f8. Small criticism on an enjoyable shot.

What a great idea for showcasing a cheese grater that I'm sure I use several times a week. Now I'll see it in a new light! Well done.

I really really like the attempt here. Background distraction is zero - good. Internally lit both highlights subject and provides surprise or unique element - good. Colour, contrast, saturation appear striking but natural - good. But the handle appears out of focus and there is a light bleed at the bottom which pulls a lot of attention from the subject - not so good. Overall, a really nice take on the theme and close to good across the board execution.
