Extra Info: Sunrise from inside the circle at Stonehenge in September. One cannot help but find a little spirituality as the sun breaks through the fog and mist. Touching these ancient stones sends a bit of a shiver. Knowing they've stood for 5,000 years gives one a sense of wonder ... and a little thrill to have stood where the ancients stood.

Thanks for the tour information kletkeman. Wish I'd known that this time last year!!! We visited friends in Bath in May last year, but skipped Stonehenge because our friends told no one was allowed close enough anymore to make it worthwhile. Last time I listen to a local :-) Oh well. Maybe we'll make it back someday and do your tour. Loved the picture.

    Thanks for the votes everyone.

Maike13: The stone circle is accessible several times a week at sunrise or sunset (i.e. outside normal viewing hours) by joining a premium tour. There were about 16 of us in a huge coach and we arrived at Stonehenge around 9am. Security led us into the circle and left us to our own devices for almost an hour. Awesome tour for 75 pounds. We then went to Lacock village (think Harry Potter 1 & 2 and the upcoming film) and had a huge breakfast at the George Inn, which has had a continuous pub license since the 1300s. Finally, we finished off at the Roman baths in, well, Bath. It was a lovely, sunny day and I couldn't have asked for a more pleasant way to see that part of England.

My number one. I'm not a huge fan of coloured filters but this one really stands out. Fantastic job.

Breathtaking shot. Really like the filter effect you chose. I didn't think they let people that close to these anymore. Did you have a special 'in'?

Time, place, timeless beauty! BEST! The mood is really captured in the sillouettes against the sunshine. In my TT~!

Certainly captures the majesty of Stonehenge - well done. I'm surprised at just how different the sky colour looks as I switch monitors.

What a cool shot. Especially effective use of the yellow filter. A familiar subject, but your photo of it stands with the best of them, I think!

One of my TT favorites. Beautifully done, excellent composition.
