The silhouettes and reflections make an interesting grouping against the soft colours of the dawn.

I don't understand the brightness difference of the water in the foreground vs the middle ground. That's the main detractor from a higher ranking.

    Nice picture, in my favorites.

I think that the color gradient in the lower third of this pictures is most effective. Nice composition - well done.

I like this one... the light subtle colors as a back ground for the silhouetted birds works well. I would have like to see the birds a bit sharper and possibly crop out the upper dark section, but still very nice.

The play of the light at dawn in this location is nice. I have a similar shot at Staten Island in 2013 when there is no smoke or clouds but the dawn valley mist was on the ground and reflected in the flooded field. I can send a copy to anyone who sends me their email address. If there is a way to share a photo via panchellenge, please let me know. My email is alex@vanbroeklaw.com.

A striking shot of interesting birds in unusual conditions. Even considering the smoke, the abrupt transition from bright foreground to very dark background seems unnatural. Was it added/enhanced in PP? If so, a more gradual transition might be better. Also. if shot from slightly to your left, the central bird would separate clearly from the others and provide a better visual focus. Nice work, nonetheless.

Lovely subject and beautiful, muted colours.

Thanks for all the feedback. I like this shot for two reasons: even with the bad fire our migration every fall to see the birds worked again; and the movement of the bird flapping its wings changed the surface to make a pool of light. I did not see that but the camera did.

Layers of colors and the reflection of the birds. Really wonderful image.

It's lovely but a touch on the soft side, could of sharpened this a little.

The slight haziness of the image enhances it. The greys of the land and the golden reflections complement each other well.

Great details in the water, and double silhouettes of the cranes are beautiful. The color is lovely, even if it was partly from the smoke of the Camp Fire. Great shot!
