Canon EOS 7D       18th place, 32 points
1/1600s, f7.1, ISO 320, 640mm, Shutter Priority, Pattern, no flash

Post-Processing: Converted a raw to a tiff in DPP 4. In Affinity Photo cropped, selectively de-noised the sky, slightly lightened the birds right eye, sized then smart sharpened       Extra Info: On a pole, high above me, an osprey took a quick break from his fish dinner to check me out. If you look closely you'll see the meal under his right talon. Then again it might be a her!

Thanks for all the comments and suggestions. It was an extreme crop, close to a 100%. Should have probably given it a little more room, but I really wanted to play on the osprey's eyes. The blue tint that so many commented on was caused by the wetness on the bird's stomach. He would bend over touching the fish, transferring the moisture to his feathers, hence the wet spot on his breast. When they eat their catch they start at the head and dig in. After scarfing for a while, he'll leave this post with his catch appearing almost whole. The moisture caused the blue tint on his belly, looking at his eyebrows, legs the stripe on his back those are white, so the white balance was right.
Again thanks for the comments!

The blue haze ruins an otherwise impressive photo. The gaze of the bird was captured extremely well. Good framing too. But the haze keeps this one out of my favs on first pass.

Great catch (no pun here) of a beautiful bird. The image has a blue haze, almost like you shot it through a window. Maybe it's the distance.

whatever the sex of the bird they do not have salt and vinegar on the fish.
the pole top helps with the perspective

Nice capture. It looks like you might be the next meal.

Wonderful to have captured this, in my TT

Looks like a slight haze, would it be possible to address in pp?

Beautiful birds and interesting to watch. The image is flat and bit underexposed.

Dramatic pose, nicely captured. Could be improved by stronger contrast. sharper focus, especially around the eyes.

This would of been a terrific shot if it was a little sharper, it lacks definition, and is a little noisy.

What a great pose caught her looking right at you. Composition and lighting look good, focus looks ok but the whole image looks a bit soft... contrast, clarity or vibrance may help. would have like to place higher but for softness.
