The “maloik” (evil eye)       ©2018 RobertLavker
Panasonic DMC-GX7       7th place, 111 points
1/5s, f4.7, ISO 125, 342mm, Aperture Priority, Pattern, no flash

Post-Processing: RAW files converted with Adobe RAW. Decreased shadows, decreased highlights, increased contrast; curves; cropped; filter - unsharp mask       Extra Info: This is an image of the Burhinus capensis, aka Spotted Dikkop, aka Spotted thick-knee. Look closely at the eye and you can see “nature’s goggles”, which is the nictitating membrane or third eyelid. This allows some degree of visibility while simultaneously protecting the eye.

Nice colors and good sharpness. I would have cropped a bit more off from the left side and less from the left side. Anyway, in my favorites.

Wow, this deserves to place in everybody's TT, not just mine.

nice capture - that eye is certainly intense.

Had you considered darkening the background highlights a bit more?

ps are those settings right? 1/5s at 342mm? I can't imagine i'd be able to get such a detailed picture with that combination - kudos!

Nicely shot, with good bokeh background that fits with the bird's coloring. Title fits well, too.
