Canon EOS 7D       18th place, 42 points
1/1250s, f8, ISO 640, ?, Shutter Priority, Pattern, no flash

Post-Processing: Developed raw in DPP, lightened, contrast, rotated and cropped, then saved as a tiff. In Affinity Photo cloned out a wave at the bottom of the pic with cloning, patch tool, smudge. Since I'd rotated the pic so the boat was level the horizon wasn't. I created a selection and cloned the water to create a level horizon.       Extra Info: An outrigger passing close by the beach.

Thanks for all the comments, kind words, and votes.
Elliott, I'd like to see your version, no prob from me.
aoc46 it is only one boat, it's an outrigger!
Mepo, played with cropping, there was only room at the top or bottom, there was no room on the right or left, I did take off a bit off the left, but wanted to leave as much as possible on the right to give the boat some 'room'.
ysal, foggy, yes, of course, it's almost always foggy here at the Strand.
As I said in my pp, had to get rid of a wave at the bottom of the picture. It was about the width of the photo, and half way between the boat and the bottom of the picture.

    i like it.
i use faststone and played with your shot. bw conversion, raise highlights to the max, lower shadows.... makes most of the water and horizon disappear (i'll share in outakes if you like). very printable.
in my t.t.

Classic. Almost Christopher Pratt in style. I like it a lot. Top 10

I hope the coach can whip this crew into shape, it looks like they are all playing their own tune :-) I think cropping to evoke the rule of thirds so the boat is not centered, would give a better shot.

Like the simplicity - a little hard to tell if we're seeing one boat or several.

I really like the simplicity of this image. I am not bothered by the fact that the boats split the image in half. The colors against the water is effective. In my TT's.

i love this - the different people, the bright red, the way the sea and sky blend into one.

I like this interesting action shot with the reflections of the boat and paddlers in the water. Nice simple shot with lots of attractive negative space.

I'm not surer it was a foggy day but the ocean and sky are too white and the subject doesn't pop.
