  #201 Break the Rules
Entry 1 of 19

Road Rage       ©2018 RobertLavker
Panasonic DMC-GX7       1st place, 169 points
10s, f11, ISO 125, 200mm, Manual, Pattern, no flash

Post-Processing: RAW files converted with Adobe RAW; decreased shadows, decreased highlights, increased contrast; adjusted curves; filter - unsharp mask       Extra Info: I broke several "rules of Photography". For examples: (i) the focal point of the image is almost center thus rule of thirds is broken; (ii) there is a great deal of movement blur as a result of zooming out during the exposure; and (iii) the horizon is slightly tilted.

What a fantastic shot - there is so much life and colour in it. Congratulations.

Thanks for the votes and comments. This was a hard challenge for me. I'd rather be lucky than good - Lefty Grove

I love it - breaking the rules resulted in a vibrant display that is really eye catching.

I think this resulted in a fascinating image. It took a minute to realise what I was looking at but then I found the image gives you lots of details to explore.

Another take on the city from the Open category, very different and also very nice - the zooming out makes the shot special, even with the blur and centering, and those color explosion! from the traffic lights... TT for me, nice job!

Nice use of movement blur by zooming during the exposure. In my favorites.

Whatever rules may or may not have been broken, I'm afraid I don't find the result very appealing. It's colorful, though.

This one is my top pick. Fabulous effect from the zoom trails and gorgeous colours. I wouldn't have noticed the tilt if you hadn't mentioned it.

Great result. I've always wanted to try this. One of these days. High in my TT.

Striking image. A very unusual effect. I've not seen zoom lines as sharp and with such distinct start and end points. I suppose that is because, other than the point light sources, the image is low contrast and dark.
