  #199 Landscape

After the Cricket.       ©2018 cookiejar
Panasonic DMC-G85       18th place, 20 points
1/59s, f11, ISO 200, 124mm, Manual, Pattern, no flash

Post-Processing: Slight sharpening, and increase of contrast and colour saturation to bring out definition in the background a bit more. Resized for entry       Extra Info: A rural cricket ground I chanced upon as I was taking my daughter for a driving lesson. I liked the long view contrasted with the bright green of the oval. The human touch of the wicket still in place also appealed.

The deep shadows near the foreground dominate too much. Nice scene otherwise. Is that evening mist in the background?

The landscape beyond the cricket pitch is beautiful. If the foreground were cropped, it would figure more prominently.

The minimalist foreground is an interesting contrast to the more conventional background. Cropping off the bottom to 16:9 format would improve the composition, IMO.

Nice idea for a landscape but aspect constraints stop it from taking the eye to the background.

Such a peaceful image, wonder how it transforms when a cricket match takes place! Well done.

I like the cricket ground as well as a point of interest in the image. I appreciate that you minimized the sky which looks blown out. I don't care for the dark shadow running across the middle of the scene. It might not have been possible to eliminate it, but if you could have composed or cropped so that it was at the bottom of the image it would be better I think. I don't know what viewing perspectives were available but if the cricket green were at a bit more of a diagonal angle it would have made a terrific leading line.
