Post-Processing: major crop, adjust sliders for contrast, highlights, and saturation. maybe slight usm.       Extra Info: dad drove us to california a couple times to see grandparents in the late fifties (yikes). didn't take long to learn the word souvenir. there were lots of shops along the way before the interstate highway system was finished. i can still smell the ceder boxes and trinkets. well, one of these shops also had these miniature cigarette lighters. i wanted one sooooo bad. there was no way mom and dad were going to let their son who liked to play with matches have one of these no matter how hard i begged. might have been ten years later before i found one again. it is functional and almost small enough to hide behind a nickel.

Wow, what a great story. I hope you show us another image of this with something else to show size reference. Very well shot, good focus. The edge of glass (?) plate is a bit distracting.

I'm so glad you kept this - what a great memory. Excellent job of lighting . I like the contrasting textures in the background. They add interest and help the lighter to stand out.

I'm a sucker for metal macro images. In my TT.

Interesting object, well-shot. The strong table-edge line distracts somewhat.

As a fellow pyromaniac, I find this especially attractive. I think there should have been a picture of a forest fire or a house burning in the background :-) Will shot, great control of the highlights.

An interesting item and fits the challenge well. Maybe a tighter crop on the left would emphasise the subject more but in my favourites

I don't blame Mom and Dad; however persistence pays off. Great image and well photographed. I appreciate the story behind the image.
