Panasonic DMC-GX7       2nd place, 162 points
1/13s, f1.7, ISO 500, 40mm, Normal Program, Center Weighted Average, no flash

Post-Processing: Adjusted lens distortion; Cropped and straightened; Cloned out a bit of neighboring furniture that was distracting; Slightly increased color saturation; Brightened; Denoised and sharpened; Resized       Extra Info: This was taken at one of the missions built by missionaries in the 1700’s along the California coast. The priests’ quarters where this was taken were added in the early 1800’s. The entire mission was rebuilt in the 1970's when it was extensively damaged by an earthquake.

The interesting thing about this image is that the top and bottom halves (roughly) each make very nice compositions by themselves.

The centred composition is perfect. The chair is beautifully showcased against the mustard wall.

the vibrant color pulls me in. Nice. Decided that I like the unfocused foreground (f1.7 induced). Probably would have composed without so much door and arch - most interesting part of shot IMO are the complimentary colors.

This is really a very nice composition although I find the top half of the image is where my eye is drawn most strongly for some reason. The dominant black shutters and the pointed arch are strong attractors.
