Post-Processing: tweaked all kind of adjustments in my raw converter, rotate, crop, desaturate, save as a tiff. Size and save for the challenge.       Extra Info: The Lulapin venturing out of the harbor to escort the Viking Amber, with her load of cars, into the port.

Thanks for the extra info. I grew up in a major port and I do miss both the water and the ships, so I envy you your location. Those big car carriers with their flat sides are almost the reverse of what my history indicates a ship should look like! Of course, I realise they are very efficient, but my worst experience of rough weather (skirting a hurricane with 30ft waves) makes me wonder what happens when one of those waves hits such a flat and unforgiving surface:-) If I have a choice, I'll go with the tugboat everytime LOL

Thanks for the comments. Mepo I have been seeing these huge boats all the time, often we get two a day coming into Port Hueneme. To the others that made comments about my cropping, I would have included both boats, but the car carrier had a huge reflection that created a really ugly glare on a 1/3 of the lower bow. It was not to bad when viewed in color but when converted to B&W, it was UGLY. I tried cloning, painting, smudging, healing, I just couldn't get it to look right or natural. I played with the different crops, but just ran out of time, had to submit.

Again thanks for the comments, they are very appreciated.

I'd love to see this with the whole stern of the tug in view. I'm still fascinated with those huge flat sided car carriers.

I'm sure it was a difficult angle to get both vessels in the frame; still I wish you had included the stern. Great choice for B&W, with perhaps a bit more contrast

I like the contrast between the textures of the tug and the massive ship on the right.

Nice composition and tonal values, though the scene seems rather static.

A little clipped on the front end, I think. Otherwise nice full frame image.

Effective black and white. Composition needs some work!

    like the view point
minor comment the contrast / curves should be darker and this brings the container out of the background

I like the composition, but the image doesn't seem to be very sharp.
