I still think the exposure was perfect - I'm more of a real life person, I submit that the more common 'perfect' photo would be dull and uninteresting. If I saw this place in person I would be intrigued by the dark areas and blinded by the light (and I would have a spare battery in my pocket) LOL

    Billy...Edward...I'm confused! :-)))
...Congratulation for top ten finish!
...but...Where is your creativity? :-(
...Ohh I'm too hypercritical!!! :-D
...It's just that I'm used to see a lot of fantastic images from You...
...Don't worry...It's a bad time for me...I'm becoming petulant,boring and crabbed as a toothless old woman!:-DDD
See You next challenge!

it makes you look at it for a long time, always for me the sign of a good photo, and conveys both warmth and gloom, which I found special - well done!

This photo just keeps getting better the more I look at it. There is something so elegant about it..

    LOL, LaRee, Franz :-D
Don't mind, it's a nice funny mistake :-) and I can be honoured being mistaken with Edward :-)
Franz, I'm jealous too!! :-D whoa, at daylight the house is even prettier! it has a terrasse on the second floor, left to the windows, with a table and two chairs... a fantastic place for, z.b., a romantic dinner on a summer night... jealous, very jealous :-) :-)

Wow!! I didn't really expected to finish so high, given the competence!!! many thanks again!! :-)

So Edward, nice job done here, but why are you entering under Billys nickname?! ;-)
LOL, Just kidding. LaRee, you should have left the name away, it could have fitted on any tt entry then...

Congratulations Billy. Very nice 'rhapsody in white'. This beautiful house makes me really jealous.

Good solid top 10 finish Edward. I think this is one of the most fitting images submitted for this challenge.

Many thanks for your nice comments :-) :-) :-)
- Laree, Michael: I'm happy you liked it. Yes, the fence is a bit distracting... first I cloned it out, but then I found the light reflection on the ground a bit "floating in nowhere"... finally decided to leave the fence, as a minor fault, didn't wanted to make a left crop as the composition unbalanced a lot.
- Jade: as usual your nice eye points to interesting things to get better... args, the blown highlights were a non desired must, it was very dark all around this house so had to expose a bit longer to get some light in the house... I was thinking to take more exposures to make a tonemapping, but this was the precise moment when the camera was "diying" veeery quickly, so decided to get back to home to avoid a possible damage.
(But I should have corrected that verticals!! meh!!! LOL, even the fence is tilting... args :-D I was so happy with the no-noise, that forget some important things... thanks for pointing that ;-)
- Franz: Hallo, mein Freund :-D well, the house is in Germany LOL just in front of Gaby's house, and yes, it's beautiful!!
The reason for the BW is because the house is completely white! no hint of colour, specially with the snow... a rapsody in white :-D the lights were also white, so the pic had only a slight yellowish tint in some areas... and not very attractive, a "cold" one. So decided for the BW, much better here. Although that blow the highlights a bit more... but I didn't liked the yellow tint, as that house remains white in my thoughts :-)

What a beautiful house, and the illuminated doors make it very inviting.
But I wonder if warm colors would have made this nice scenery even more inviting?
Though you must have had a reason to convert it to b&w.
Nice shot and in my TT.
...this is really a beautiful house! ...sigh...

    Very nicely done.

A nice composition and take on the theme but the blown highlights and off level vertical horizontal elements (even if the result of perspective) hurt the image a lot.

Good photo, excellent exposure. tt The fence on the the left is a minor distraction for me.
