Moon charm       ©2008 dodrizzt
Panasonic DMC-FZ50       9th place, 80 points
1/13s, f11, ISO 100, 420mm, Manual, Pattern, no flash
Post-Processing: Two pics blended, statue exposed 40 sec just from backlight moon, then replaced overexposed moon with a correct exposed moon pic. BW converted, little levels tweak. Resize and a touch of USM.       Extra Info: My first idea was a pic from a real couple, but I got blurry pics due to the long exposure; then I came across this little statue that caught my mind for the idea; patiently waited for a clear moon night and finally got lucky ;-)
Hope all of you can see the silhouettes, the picture is very dark but that was my idea, to get a dark backlight not from sun but from lovely moon... hope you enjoy it

Congratulations on your TT finish! I wish I'd been able to see the silhouettes before I voted!

Good idea and composition that fits the theme well. TT!

Perhaps just a touch dark, at least on my monitor, but I love it anyway. Very original idea. For some reason it's a shade or two lighter if I open it in Photoshop and I like that better. Photoshop seems to display grayscale images lighter than my browser for some reason. I posted a question in the forums to see if anyone else gets this, and if so, why.

Now this IS dark very dark and I commented about another pic that it was too dark. Somehow here it works. I like the moon backlight idea, lovely.

It is an interesting idea and clever to combine two images together. As you say, the combined image is very dark and that really does make it too hard to see the silhouettes. Perhaps a small light source, like a flashlight held out of frame behind the figures, would have produced a better backlighting effect or maybe a slight halo effect. The overall composition seems unbalanced -- I think a centered composition would work better in this instance with the boy figure not cut off by the frame. Just my thoughts!

When I viewed this earlier today I couldn't see anything but the moon. Suddenly, this evening, I can see the silhouettes and find it a very charming shot. I like it more than some of the others in my TT but, unfortunately, I've already left comments to say they are in my TT. That's no consolation to you I know, but I just wanted to say I really like your entry!
