There's a 1950-s feeling to this picture, or is that just me? Maybe from the colour range / flash-induced flatness?

For me the jam jar looks out of place (too modern, not as interesting), but appreciate that you needed another taller object to balance the cakestand.

I also wonder if a different backdrop would have been more attractive - there is a lot of wood/ reddish-brown in the picture.
