Panasonic DMC-FZ200       5th place, 100 points

Post-Processing: Crop. Adjust levels. USM.       Extra Info: There were other larger stained glass windows available but I liked that this one reminded me of the way they were used to tell a story.
I did not correct the perspective because these windows are always high and this is the effect you get when you see them.

Congratulations - it's a beautiful image. I couldn't believe how lovely the Cathedral of Notre Dame is, and right in Ottawa!

Nice job - well done and I disagree about others art. You could say the same about photographing a building - it is the architect's art.

Congrats on your top 5 finish, though you would have been 6th if I had not accidentally skipped faving Lo's entry (which I thought was yours, BTW). LOL....

Beautifully captured. I suppose that was the point of the window maker. Works well for the theme.

Thanks for the comments. I'm glad some of you liked the perspective. I did try correcting it but the result was disappointing.
davemisunas. Thanks. I chose a North facing window so the exterior light would be weaker and then underexposed to get some detail in the windows. I wanted to retain a natural look. That's also why I didn't correct the underexposure at the top of the window.
aoc46 - thanks - I tried that but imo it's not as good. I will file the thought for future use, however.
Jade - This is a part of the image, I removed the glass 'text' panel below.
ysal. I appreciate your decision. I ignore that particular proscription and vote heartily for all the beautiful architecture, objects and devices we see on the site. I feel I am complimenting the artist, architect or inventor by photographing their creations and I appreciate the skill of the photographer in bringing them to notice. . I realise and respect that others have a different opinion. So be it.

This brings to mind an earlier discussion in the Forum about photo of somebody else's art. I will chose to ignore that for now and say this is beautifully photographed.

You chose your window well, and you have captured the brilliance of stained glass. High in my faves.

A lovely piece of glass but I am inclined to place this in a category of a documentary image, which is to say, something recorded but without adding your own artistic interpretation. I would have thought you might have done better to frame a part of the image to make it your own.

Beautiful choice, the window really tells a story, as you noted. Nicely exposed to get those vibrant colors, and I agree on not correcting the perspective here: it helps to lead the eye from bottom to top, as probably intended when built. Nice job!

The jewel-like colours are magnificent. Great job with the lighting.

Like the crisp detail and color in the window. Given your rationale re the perspective, I'd rather that the keystoning were more dramatic - seems too accidental as is.

Fits the theme exactly and great lighting. In my favs.

Nicely done. You were correct in not altering the perspective. In my TT's.

Beautiful colors. For the perspective distortion to make sense you would need to have included more in the photo besides the window. Without that I think it would be better to correct it.

well done in my T5. nice work getting the lighting and focus right, stained glass windows can be hard to capture without blowing out the whites.
