Cathedral Tour       ©2018 Lo
Panasonic DMC-FZ200       11th place, 36 points
1/5s, f8, ISO 100, 46mm, Aperture Priority, Spot, no flash

Post-Processing: Converted from RAW with Photoshop Elements. Decreased highlights to recover windows, increased temperature, detail and luminance. Adjusted levels to increase brightness and cropped. Used Topaz 5 lens effects uv, Topaz 5 Classic Collection to correct exposure and add detail, finished with Simple Pop.       Extra Info: The cornerstone for Notre Dame Cathedral was blessed in 1841. It was built in the Gothic style, and is filled with many beautiful stained glass windows, over 100 statues and luxurious carvings. Notre Dame is also designated as a Basilica and is the location of the Archdiocese in this area.

Additional comment, after reflection, I like the large amount of ceiling you have included, it gives the eye a resting place from the complexity of the centre of the image. Good effort Notre Dame for a religious theme!

What an amazing architecture. The colors are bit over saturated and the overall image is a little soft, but still a great candid image.

The HDR is a bit overdone but I like the beautiful colors nevertheless :) What I don't like here is the people, I'm usually fan of getting some human element in the images but here the standing people look too... don't know how to say it... "summer-tourist-looking" and distracting. I guess it's almost impossible to avoid, being Notre Dame and in August... I think would have cut them completely from the image, cropping along the white line on the Altar - you'd still have enough amount of beautiful details :)
A fine image anyway and comes in my top ten, good job!

I did reduce the highlights in RAW. Prior to that the windows had no colour in them at all.

This tour group congregated in front of my tripod - When they moved up the aisle, I took the shot. My parking metre was about to run out so had to leave.

The tour group bring life to the cathedral. - in the photo and in real life.

Sometimes you just wish the people would get out of the way. Nicely taken otherwise.

What a beautiful church. I find the people standin in the aisle to be a bit of a distraction, I think I might have cropped them out, even though you would not see the altar. Still a great pic!

This is nicely done; however, the people standing in the aisle detracts immensely from the image. I realize how difficult it can be to get an empty cathedral; however less people wound have been worth the effort.

Magnificent- but rather busy. Did you try reducing the highlights a little?

The cathedral offers some impressive architecture and color, especially in the ceiling. The people seem to be waiting aimlessly for something to happen.

Dave, I never noticed the tilt on the left - should have corrected it. I liked having the people in the photo - it gave a sense of community to it.

Very impressive cathedral. Nice work getting the focus and composition... the lighting is good with a bit of blown out whites in the window. In my TT. It seems to be listing a bit to the right, I may have cropped out the bottom all the way to the alter top eliminating the people.
