  #201 Break the Rules
Entry 2 of 19

Lime Bikes       ©2018 SteveBee
Panasonic DMC-GX85       2nd place, 161 points
1/400s, ?, ISO 200, ?, Aperture Priority, Pattern, no flash

Post-Processing: Processed from raw in LR. Decreased highlights, increased shadows, clarity, and vibrance       Extra Info: Don't shoot into the sun and avoid wide angle lens distortions. The building's roof is actually curved, but the railing in the foreground above the roof is straight as an arrow. The wide angle lens allowed me to make the railing curve to match the roof line and catch the sun between the two -- a happy coincidence. The bikes are from the LimeBike bike-share program on campus.

Congratulations. Great shot, and one that really benefited from not being tied to rules.

Congrats Steve, on your double top-five finish. Thought this would be #1.

Great result from breaking the rules. Love the curves and the colour.

You may have broken some rules but I think the result is impressive. Matching the curves was a great idea and worked well.

Very nice shot where broken rules give a real enhancement !

Perfect use of the distortion, the flare adds character... and the colors are great (maybe just a little extra contrast?). Great image that makes my #2 and could also have been my #1 - I won't be surprised if yours win at the end. Great job!!

Clever use of the Barrel Distortion. In my favorites.

Great idea using the wide angle lens. I use my 7-14mm zoom a great deal and always keep reminding myself to avoid what you have done. Nonetheless it is a good image.

Well done - the curved rail nicely frames the bikes and building, and the angled horizon reinforces the distorted aspect of the scene.

My number 2 pick. Great way to make broken rules work to good effect.
