Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi       22nd place, 45 points
1/800s, f6.3, ISO 200, ?, Shutter Priority, Pattern, no flash

Post-Processing: had to send my normal camera in and had to shoot with my old eos 400d xti, wow is it slow. Processed the raw file in Darktable with a few tweaks, saved as a tiff, and in Affinity sized, cropped a little more. Did a slight curves adjustment to darken the surfer's wetsuit. Then sized for the challenge.       Extra Info: A photographer snaps the surfer from the water, while I got both from the sand.

Thanks to all for the comment. NEAT, about the washed out look, the picture was taken on a very sunny day, a little after noon. The sun was behind the wave creating an almost glass like wave. Also I live in Oxnard, not Hawaii, and we just don't get the same colored water. Perhaps I should have added a little more contrast, but when I look at the surfer's wetsuit it is pretty close to pure black, at least on my monitor. I really liked the translucence of the wave that day, a quite rare event here..
Again thanks for the comments and suggestions.

Speedy, interesting picture. Well composed. In my favorites.

This is quite humorous, I think I've seen you post quite a few surfing shots in the past and I may have already told you this, but this needs more contrast, the water just looks too washed out for my liking, but you captured a great scene.

Well timed and composed. Love the crest of the wave used to frame it. Possibly better without he photographer but it's a toss up; either way it's in my favs.

I love his expression and am impressed that you managed to capture it from the sand. Is it pleasure or terror? I feel like I am about to be swamped by the wave.
