Post-Processing: straighten, crop, de-saturate, exposure, and contrast, sharpen, resize       Extra Info: ten a.m. this morning arrived at lighthouse to find scaffolding errected and no entry. was hoping to go in it as it has a bit scary spiral staircase. drove many miles to this one. it has a series of landings that make it a bit easier climbing but even with railings and landings, some people are real 'wall huggers' in there.

Congratulations elliott! I left out all stairways this time - and was pretty wrong!

interesting how each spiral was treated differently. Each has its strengths. Well done.

hey thanks so much for the encouraging comments. this staircase does have many more levels, but if i went over three, the lower ones would overlap and become muddled in the shot. almost didn't convert to bw as almost everything in the shot was black or white anyway. thanks again all. el

The third classical great subject for the theme in the challenge, and no less appealing than the two in Main. BW works very nicely for this one, rising the interest of the patterns on the stairs and the floor.
TT for me, well done!! :-)

The long drive was well worth it. A definite top three shot for me.

I love the texture in the expanded metal of the stairs. Very cool and high in my favs.

well it was this or a shot from the top highlighting the big shadow that the lighthouse casts, or an attempt at tilt shift which i may still try and post in out takes. i like this because it almost exhibits the fibonacci ratio seen in nature and lots of classic architecture. (google that one if you aren't familiar... it is simple yet fascinating)
and i just noticed my typo in my title. don't know what i was thinking.

Predicting that we would see spiral stairs; would have entered one myself if I had know of any. The progressive half pattern makes the shot. The checkerboard floor is a distraction for me. Excellent otherwise.
