Crop; Clone out wires & 2 distractions; darken one area; adjust contrast; re-size; usm.
Extra Info:
This tree stands next to a skating rink at our local park. The photo was taken after an ice storm. The night sky had an eerie apricot glow, possibly reflected from a nearby shopping area.

Congratulations Lo, an awesome shot and very deserved win!
You definitely can take full credit for everything in this beautiful picture: You were there, you saw it, you took the shot! It's yours! Very well done :-)

Thank you all for your votes and/or comments - I'm absolutely over the moon - I'm delighted if I get in the top ten, so this was awesome.
Andrew, I guess most of us Canucks have played on an outdoor rink at one time or another, so it certainly hits home.

This was a great shot! I am from Toronto, Canada so the fact there is a hockey rink makes this shot even more dear to my heart! This is a shot I would frame and hang in my family room.
Congrats!

Thanks Wangi Franz07 and dodrizzt - I wish I could take credit for the beautiful lighting - but it was all there in front of me - one of the most spectacular trees I had ever seen, shimmering in ice. Thank goodness it was mild (just below 0 celsius) so I was able to reset the tripod a few times and take different exposures without freezing my fingers.

Very beautiful finding for the theme! Wonderful colors, great sharpness, perfect caption.
Very well done!

That golden glow in the sky spoils a bit the "night, one light" effect (although the resulting colours combination is lovely!!). There's also that ugly wire fence just behind the tree (although cloning it out could be a real second challenge :-)
But I like so much the tree... the light effect through the ice is superb... that finally it has a place in my TT, nice eye, this pic may look even better in a higher size, well done!! :-)

Wow! There is so much color and light in this image for a one light in the night image. Amazing. Really nice.

Glad you liked the tree as much as I did. It would have been magnificent if it had been standing on its own, but who is ever that fortunate?
Jade, I actually did a fair amount of PP to take out electrical wires and tree branches intruding from the sides. As you said in the last competition, where does one stop in PP?

This is a fabulous effort but I really don't like the two subjects, tree and rink, competing for attention. Given a choice, I would take the tree, and even as this is shot, a little creative PP work could make this a truly stunning image. Still the finest entry by far.
