Andris. Well you did a great job. What initially tipped me off was the starburst around the 'moon' I've only ever seen that with the sun before. Then I checked your Exif and fell off my chair in surprise! As I said before - super shot.

Franz, it's daytime and sun of course, but you can imagine in how many movies "night scenes" were made same as here LOL
p.s. I did try to make it look like night and it really is very similar in our eyes, just camera+optics can't fight in quality with our eyes...

Congratulations Andris! A very deserved winner. Great shot!
But please tell us now: sun or moon? I guess it's the sun ;-)

Ran out of time to comment before voting, but I love the composition and the way the light heightens the shadows. COngratulations.

Many congrats Andris!! a wonderful image and a great double result!
I have to say that this was not in my TT just because, as Mepo said, I realized in fact this seems not to be taken at night at all (that 1/400 s, f10, ISO 100, really calls for daylight ;-) so decided not to vote for it... but, theme apart, I love this pic, as Jade said, one of the best in the challenges... well done!! :-)

Congratulations on your win. It is a great shot but I must say I'm surprised how many people obviously thought it was shot at night. I had it in my tt simply because it was such a super composition. Well done.

Really like the shadows from the moonlight - it's the moon, right?

Very nicely done and in my top three. I love the hint of blue in an otherwise almost mono shot.

Great entry, right on subject, has a great mood, good composition and expoure. The single light is well positioned, all in all a excellent entry.

Nice! I like the lighting and shadows. Good on you for getting out there in the cold to capture this one. Good luck!

Amazing shot, perfectly executed. For me this looks like a forest in a fairy tale.
What a great emotional impact. Very well done!

I sense this one is suffering from double imaging (motion blur) or imperfect layering. But on closer inspection it seems that might not be the case; whatever that effect is, it seems to add something artistic to my eye. The composition and presentation here are extraordinarily good. There is a centrally lit image which seems to have been achieved in a perfectly natural way, and the play of light in the branches and the powerful shadows, off centre light source, and diagonal lines amidst a natural vertical pattern of trees really makes this a standout image.

Nice pp - looks a lot like a night time shot scene as called for in the challenge so I will include it in my tt Great scenery.
