Panasonic DMC-FZ50       1st place, 316 points
1/30s, f3.6, ISO 100, 215mm, Normal Program, Pattern, no flash

Post-Processing: In CS3, slight levels, contrast & saturation adjustments, added selective Edgarian blur to focus attention on hands, little desaturation on background, crop, extra selective contrast & saturation adjustments, resize, a tad of USM after resizing.       Extra Info: Pottery is one of the most ancients forms of craftmanship, with reference objects found from 29.000-25.000 BCE. Potter's wheel whas invented in Mesopotamia approx. 6000-4000 BCE, and remains almost identical since then; even with the nowadays technics, the wheel keeps on being used today, as seen in the pic.

Thank you for your comments about my pic - but there is no need to be sad about it, I respect your views and I knew soon after I set the topic that there was going to be differences in interpretation. Anyway, the main issue is your picture and you deserve all the congratulations - it sums up 'craftmanship' perfectly and it captures skill and movement really well. I remember in one of your early entries, when you said you were still trying to get the hang of the FZ50, well this photo shows you certainly know how to use it now. Congratulations and well done.
Regards
James.

LindyB, Andris: you are totally right, left top corner is overexposed... tried to fix it but couldn't get a satisfactory result; at the end, with adding blur, I discovered that the highlighted area, totally blown, helped fixing eye to the craft the potter is making, so decided to leave as is... not fully satisfactory, but adds a particular 'mood', so, better than nothing :-)

Very well captured hand, wheel and clay with great detail and movement. Shame about the very light area at the top left. In my TT. Good luck!
