Post-Processing: Conversion to black and white and I played with the light a bit trying to keep some of the face in light, but keep all my shadows for a dark photo. Clone stamped out an alfalfa hairdo sticking straight up.       Extra Info: I tried about 20 poses and finally found one I liked. It is a tough topic as I was excited about playing with my camera, but yet trying to put myself in this sad frame of mind to fit the role. Not to mention I was running back and forth to my camera and using the timer so I could take the photo of myself. I purposefully left so much of the photo completely black as I felt that the photo needed to show someone almost completely lost to darkness in their life.

You did a great effort to get this pic... I certainly prefer a more 'candid' shot, but your pose is very dramatic and a good approach. Besides, lighting is superb... goes to my TT, good luck!

Very well captured and the lighting is complimentary to the mood! Expression fully depicting theme..nicely done!

I thought about cropping it on the right but discarded the idea as I wanted the person disappearing from all sides into dark which is also the reason I left it so dark (and even darkened it). I think I'll go back to the image and try your suggestions to see if they fit. Thanks!

Very good effort, composition and pose, i would crop a little on the right side. I think is also a little too dark, giving more contrast (leaving it low key) would give a more dramatic impact.
Good luck! Carlo

There is certainly a dark and lonely feel to this image. I tried something similar but failed. This works TT

I like this attempt at loneliness and it definitely comes closer than a lot of the entries. Perhaps a bit more of a sense of depression , despair or sadness, but these are certainly possible side effects of loneliness.

I have to commend you on effort. It has to be difficult to scramble into position and remain in a posed calm as the shutter clicks. A very nice image and the blackness really adds to the despair. The position looks just a little unnatural to me but you did a great job with your image. Good Luck!

Good work. Well done. Your efforts produced a great sorrowful atmosphere. In my TT.
