The Hand of Death       ©2019 wrosenthal
Panasonic DMC-FZ300       7th place, 76 points
1/125s, f3.2, ISO 100, 1019mm, Aperture Priority, Pattern, no flash

Post-Processing: Exposure adjustments, contrast, color correction, slight sharpening.       Extra Info: Sally Lightfoot crab and the "hand" of a Marine Iguana on Isla Fernandina, Galapagos. No animals were harmed during the photographing of these creatures. I cannot guarantee what happened afterwards. (Marine Iguanas do not eat crab.)

Thanks for the link, you have some really good photos in that lot, as you can see I gave you a 10, you were my number one pick. And still when I came across this photo on your Flickr account it still stood out as a classic and very unique. I can see why you entered this even though you had so many other lovely shots.

The crab is nice, the hand of death doesn't do anything without showing the the iguana IMO.

What an intriguing shot. I can imagine it being a book cover (now all you have to do is write the story.) In my faves.

The hand is really eerie. It almost disappears into the background. Great detail and colour.

A nice image except for that hand? I love the push the boundaries and try something new but for me, a little bizarre.

Neat--here is a link to the Galapagos set. Thanks for the comment. And yes, the place is amazing and beyond my expectations. I recommend going there if you can swing it.

Great color and exposure - the contrast of the orange crab against the grays is really striking. Would be inclined to crop some from the sides and, if possible, to show more of the "hand" - its downward reach seems to suggest a vertical orientation.

I'm not sure if you de-saturated every else except the carb. Great details and colors on the crab. The iguana claw is creepy maybe because it's so human-like (with scales!!)

Super image. The crab against the black volcanic rock is wonderful in itself, but the iguana foot protruding in adds intrigue.

That is fascinatingly weird, I can imagine how awesome it would of been to be in the Galapagos, wonder if you got some other awesome photos. I've seen some amazing documentaries with David Attenborough hosting the show.
