Panasonic DMC-FT5       29th place, 8 points
1/125s, f5.9, ISO 250, 128mm, Normal Program, Pattern, no flash

Post-Processing: cloning tool, cropping, resize, sepia, maybe slight softening       Extra Info: heavy crop yielded somewhat softer look, that and the sepia gave it a more dreamy or nostalgic feel.
had a nice blazing sunset entry but this one suits me better.

thanks for the comments and suggestions. (nice to see you back jade).
i had cropped this for a desktop screensaver thing. i didn't want the little road (yes its for automobiles and leads to an old sugar mill plantation ruins) to be centered. and the area on the left was largely dark which is ok for all kinds of desktop icons. so for the entry, i dragged down some foliage from a portion of the full size shot to give it some light in there which you all thought was distracting. interesting dilemma.
will probably do a re shoot there sometime and include person of interest as the scale may surprise you.
thanks again.

It does look like a drawing. Nice technique.

An even tighter crop (esp. on the left) would have been stronger, IMO. I like the idea you were trying to effect, but the image appears to be caught in between an abstract "dreamy" look, and just a lack of sharpness in certain parts. It think it might have gone over better by adding more blur, or applying a painterly filter to make it less realistic.

I might suggest cropping a little more from the left side. It centers the path and eliminates the light plant on the left that draws the eye in that direction. You want the eye only drawn down the path.

The path does indeed have an ethereal look that invites one to wander down it.

I think your sepia (ish) color is intriguing. I also like the shadows across the path.
