  #166 Balance: A Composition Tool
Entry 12 of 31
pay attention to the details       ©2015 elliott
Canon EOS M       12th place, 79 points
1/160s, f8, ISO 100, 392mm, Normal Program, Pattern, no flash
Post-Processing: increase contrast, decrease highlights, minor cloning to eliminate distractions, crop, resize.       Extra Info: the whole car was beautiful but focused on this hood ornament. personally found this to strike a balance between the hot colors and the cooler ones. and balance between the defined reflective surfaces and the muted bokeh of the background. and few other 'balances' but i don't want to over analyze my own shot. i was at antique car show looking for 'details' and had a lot of fun.

Had this at #2, El! I think you chose well to use that starburst lens filter.

Such a pretty image. You should be pleased with the result if not the rankings.

This would have been good without the sunbursts. With them, I think it is really special!

the stars come from an older filter i bought when i still shot film. it is a clear filter with lines etched in an isometric pattern. it also has a tendency to slightly soften a shot.

Very nice - really like the colors and the way the star effect emphasizes the "jewel" quality. Might consider a slightly tighter crop and a n asymmetrical balance, taking some more off the left.

Great how you got the star reflections, love the background.

forkcandles... not sure, thinking cadilac as the next shot in the series was a cadi interior.
anthony... thanks for comment. i forgot i had left a star filter on lens from last challenge. when i reviewed a couple shots i decided to keep it on as it was sunny and all the cars were very polished and well kept. interior shots came out soft and almost 'dreamy'.

A nice balanced image. The diagonal line on the car and background equals out. The focal point is pretty much central the colours are well balanced. Were the sparkles added in Post Processing?
